HUID Hallmarking

Every hallmarked article in India must carry a unique HUID — a six-digit alphanumeric code assigned by BIS for end-to-end traceability. At Varsha Bullion, HUID assignment is integrated into our hallmarking workflow. After XRF testing confirms purity, the HUID is assigned via the BIS portal and laser-engraved onto each article alongside the BIS logo and fineness number.

Frequently asked questions

HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) is a six-digit alphanumeric code assigned by BIS to every hallmarked gold and silver article. It enables end-to-end traceability — consumers, jewellers, and regulators can verify the authenticity and purity of any hallmarked article by looking up its HUID on the BIS Care app or website.

Yes. Since July 2021, every hallmarked gold article must carry a unique HUID. The HUID is laser-engraved onto the article alongside the BIS logo and fineness number. Articles without a valid HUID are not considered compliant with mandatory hallmarking requirements.

You can verify any HUID using the BIS Care mobile app or by visiting the BIS website. Enter the six-digit HUID code to view details including the article's purity, the hallmarking centre that tested it, the jeweller who submitted it, and the date of hallmarking.
